News from The Farm: March

Our Community Farmer Days 2019 have been announced! They run from March, right through to November. Why not join us on our growing journey this year?

It's always an exciting time for The Farm when we schedule in these key dates. And no-one has a bigger smile on their face than our Community Farmer, Ian. He relishes the prospect of getting volunteers back on our land again - and we just love the way he gets all philosophical about it!

"Spring is one of my most favourite times of the year. The planet tilts us towards a warm sun, light fills our souls and an energy builds. Bring on the growing season! There's a real optimism in the air. How can you not be happy and hopeful when all around us, life is bursting forth? There's new growth, baby buds, bird song...

Even more than this, there is the promise of the season ahead and what we might achieve this year. Community Farmer Days are fun and friendly, and we'd love you to join us for the 2019 season - old friends and new faces. All are welcome. We dig, we sow, we plant, we grow and create; human beings doing what we've done for thousands of years, working the land together to provide.

And we smile as we work. We meet new people and learn skills. We enjoy our toil together, and the satisfaction of witnessing the crops grow to fruition. At Community Farmer Days, we come as strangers, and we leave as friends.

And so to Spring! Let us push back our chairs, rub our hands together and get out into the fields. I's time to spend some hours outdoors with nature, do some farm stuff, and enjoy being alive.

Community Farmer Days take place on Saturdays throughout the season. See our events listings for details and bookings. They can be hard, or easy. Do as much as you feel you can. We share lunch together and always try to finish a task, and enjoy that sense of achievement. Wrap up warm and come get muddy. Kids are very welcome.

From myself, Charly and Will - see you soon farm cats!"
