The Community Farm at Bath Farmer’s Market

It’s been an incredible year for The Community Farm’s market stall at Bath Farmers’ Market.

We look forward with much enthusiasm towards her glowing success in 2015.

The stall has proved popular with the local community in Bath and new faces are being added to the old as we continue to 'pull in the punters'. We have particularly enjoyed getting to know our regulars and sharing a bit of banter with some endearing characters. There is never a dull moment: even on a wet and windy day, there is always something to smile about.

We receive lovely, encouraging comments on how well our produce is presented, the variety of produce we supply each week, and how well we work as a team. We are dedicated to maintaining good working relationships with the market committee members and other stallholders.

A lot goes on behind the scenes before and after market day (Saturday). We very much appreciate the hands at the farm whose help and support is invaluable. Some of The Farm’s volunteers have come along for a taster of our market stall experience. We have enjoyed having them with us.

This year, we took part in a mini student research project with Bath University. The aim was to raise awareness of and accessibility to local and organic food amongst the local student population. Members of the student team spent time helping out on the stall to help them unpack their understanding of 'organic’, 'farming’, 'local’, and 'community’ in terms of ethos and values. Together with the student team, (Team Atomic Organic), we devised a prototype organic food box for students and undertook an online questionnaire to measure interest and gain feedback. We will be using the data to explore creative and fun ways to follow up with the student community in both Bristol & Bath.

We are always looking for ways to boost sales on our stall and we love to try out new products to keep our customers on their toes. Back in the Summer, we started selling Tawashi 'hedgehog' vegetable scrubbers. Would you believe, they have often been mistaken for a new type of edible exotic vegetable! Confusion aside, they still sell like hot cakes and we imagine that, by now, most of the households in Bath own one!

Our stall is open from 8am to 1.30pm every Saturday in Green Park Station, Bath, down by the Brasserie near the town end. If you're passing, come and say hello.
