Saturday volunteer needed for Bath Farmers' Market

From the beginning of May we'll be at Bath Farmers' Market every Saturday. We need a volunteer to help us between 8.30am and 2pm at the stall. Here are the details:

Volunteer: The Community Farm’s stall at Bath Famers’ Market
Voluntary – Saturdays 8.30am-2pm

For three months minimum, ideally longer

Main purpose of the voluntary position

  • To set up the stall ready for trading – help unpack vegetables from the van, set up tables and display vegetables
  • Replenish stocks as required throughout the morning
  • Serve customers in a confident manner – weigh produce, take money, give change
  • Pack up tables and left-over vegetables at the end of the market and help load in to van
  • Observe health and safety and food hygiene requirements
Position in The Community Farm
Reports to: Ian Sumpter or John English who will be the main market stall contacts

Person specification
The role would suit someone who:
  • has an interest in people and good customer service
  • is confident handling money, working out prices and giving change
  • has some knowledge of vegetables (not essential)
In addition
  • Candidates for this role should be: physically fit; willing to work both as part of a team and unsupervised (once training has been given) and able to stand for the whole time the market stall is operating
  • The role involves being outside in a covered area so protected from the elements but can be very cold in winter
  • Committed to observing health and safety and food hygiene requirements at all times.
