New course: Gardening for Wellbeing

New course: Gardening for Wellbeing

We're pleased to announce that in the New Year we’ll be holding an exciting new course here at The Community Farm in Chew Magna. Grow and Make at The Farm: Gardening for wellbeing, is free to residents in Bath and North East Somerset and is being run as a joint venture with The Wellbeing College, Bath.

The course is suited to anyone wanting to feel the positive benefits of working, socialising and learning new skills in the outdoors, in a friendly and supportive environment.

The first of these courses, entitled Winter in the Garden, will run every Wednesday for 8 weeks from 9 January. Two sessions are to be held each day and, during these, participants will learn how to make infrastructure, including raised beds; learn how to look after soil, plants and trees; plan what vegetable crops to grow and where and look at how they can encourage wildlife to thrive. Morning sessions will run from 10am-1pm and afternoon sessions will run from 1pm-3pm, with a shared soup lunch between 12pm-1pm in our cosy roundhouse.

The course is underpinned by the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: Give, Take Notice, Connect, Be Active and Keep Learning and will be delivered through a mixture of engaging theory and practical sessions, taught by a professional.
