Could you be our Community Farmer?

The Community Farm has a really exciting opportunity for someone with volunteer management and growing experience. We are recruiting a Community Farmer to increase the numbers of volunteers at the farm over 3 years and develop the Farm's role in care farming.

We need someone who has experience of recruiting, training and managing large numbers of volunteers and also has knowledge and experience of commercial vegetable production along with an interest in sustainable food production. You will need to be personable, enthusiastic and organised. The priorities for the work are to:

  • enhance volunteering opportunities and facilities in the field;
  • add value to the work on the field by recruiting a regular volunteer work force;
  • coordinate all aspects of the regular field volunteer work programme and community farmer days;
  • develop options for the farm around care farming

The role is full time (40 hours a week) working outside on our 28 acres of land from Tuesday to Saturday. Starting salary £17,118.

The position is for 3 years starting in January 2014 and is grant funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
