Last weekend we spent our Saturday evening celebrating the growth of our apple trees and wishing them good health for the year to come.
It was a lovely traditional wassail. We started the evening weaving willow wreaths for our heads and filling our bellies with apple cake, hot mulled cider and juice.To promote a good harvest for the coming year we had our wassail king (quite literally) toast our apple trees with toast soaked in cider. The rest of the evening was spent around the a bonfire where Susana Waters led us in singing tradition wassail songs.
