A big thank you to our volunteers

A big thank you to our volunteers

Throughout the year, people from all walks of life volunteer their time to help out at The Farm. As this year comes to an end, our Volunteer Coordinator, Ian Sumpter, tells us of the invaluable work our volunteers have been doing:

"It has been an absolute privilege to spend the 2014 season as Volunteer Coordinator here at The Community Farm.

I’ve been humbled by the enthusiasm and commitment and general groundswell of support that has come from the volunteers this year. It has truly been a wonderful time.

Together we have supported the growing operation through hoeing, sowing, planting and harvesting. Max and Will have committed their Wednesdays to packing vegetable boxes. We’ve looked after the education area, helped out at Mini V, tended the apple trees and generally helped the place roll smoothly.

Andy, our Farm Manger, tells us the yield of crops of which volunteers have played a major part in cultivating includes 1.8 tonnes of courgettes, 1200kgs of runner beans and 14 tonnes of squash!

Just recently volunteers joined us for our staff away day and various social events; this has made us all feel part of a big Community Farm family.

I thank them all."
