On Sunday 12th October FareShare South West are organising a fundraising event at The Cube Cinema in Bristol.
The premiere of Wasted/Wanted will take place. Every year, supermarkets in the UK throw away an estimated 40 million tonnes of perfectly edible food, often for perplexing reasons. FareShare is a charity that diverts some of this waste, redistributing it to organisations that work with vulnerable people.Wasted/Wanted is an engaging and empathic documentary about the volunteers of Bristol-based FareShare South West, many of whom have been users of the same rehab and mental health charities that they now help to feed. FareShare offers purpose, support and responsibility to people who have their own experiences of being cast aside and written off. This warm, conversational film meets those involved and lets them give their own accounts of daily efforts to save good food — and people — from our supermarket-society's culture of waste.
Alongside the premiere of Wasted/Wanted, the video recorded in July about the Supurbfood project visit to the Farm will also be shown as well as Local Food Roots.
Should be a great event with tickets at just £4.50. Have an enjoyable evening watching films about food and tucking in to some provided by ourselves and The Surplus Supper Club.
