Volunteer post - Regular Volunteer Team Coordinator

We've got a great voluntary opportunity for anyone wishing to develop their skills in leading teams of volunteers to complete tasks, and their knowledge of organic horticulture. Regular Volunteer Team Coordinator Voluntary Two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and occasional Saturdays 9.30am to 3.30pm (minimum) For six months, starting in March (with a one month trial period) RoleThe role will involve working outdoors on the Farm's 22 acres of growing land on Tuesday's and Thursdays when the majority of our regular volunteers attend the Farm. During the summer months we have approximately 10 volunteers attending on any one day (sometimes less, occasionally more). Our regular volunteers tend to come along for one day or a half day each week. The majority currently come on Tuesdays and we plan to build up Thursdays as oursecond main volunteer day. The role of Regular Volunteer Team Coordinator will be to support the Farm Manager to:

  • organise our team of regular volunteers to undertake activities at the Farm;
  • welcome and advise new regular volunteers;
  • check all attendees to the farm have provided the necessary health and safety information; (this is normally collected prior to arrival)
  • keep a record of who has attended;
  • promote a positive, supportive and welcoming environment in which volunteers can participate in activities at the farm;
  • liaise with the Farm Manager to resolve any issues that might arise;
  • help to promote Thursday volunteering opportunities to recruit new volunteers;
  • work within Health and Safety requirements

A typical day would involve meeting and greeting volunteers in the morning; checking any new volunteers have provided the necessary documentation; helping the Farm Manager allocate the day's tasks; working alongside staff and other volunteers in the fields; then getting feedback from volunteers as they leave for the day.
