In celebration of Bristol Pride*, July’s vegetable of the month is rainbow chard!>
Better together
Rainbow chard is technically not a variety of chard, but instead, a mixture of white stemmed Swiss chard, golden chard and ruby chard. This combo mixes the best elements of all three, the mineral tang of Swiss chard, the nutty flavour of golden chard and ruby chard’s sweet earthiness.Diverse goodness
As well as its beautiful array of colours, rainbow chard boasts a full spectrum of goodness too! It is chock full of vitamins K, A, and C, as well as magnesium, potassium, iron and dietary fibre.Tickled pink
Its vibrantly coloured stalks make it as pleasing on the plate as it is on the palate. Any recipe that calls for chard (be it Swiss, ruby or golden) will work with rainbow chard. But don’t forget, red stalks will tickle everything you cook a lovely shade of pink!*Bristol Pride is a charity event tackling inequality and championing diversity.
