See out the summer with family-friendly Chew Valley charity music festival Mini-V

September 6 - 7 2014 will see a stunning secret location near Bristol host the Mini-V harvest festival for the second time due to popular demand. The two-day long festival showcases live music from dub pioneers the Zion Train, afro-beat groovers Nubiyan Twist, 10 piece Bristol salsa sensation Baila la Cumbia, DJ sessions from Bristol’s favourites - SoulTrain, a dedicated stage of acoustic treats from Bristol’s local talent, Kids workshops from the Hive, tours of the nearby Community Farm, and a host of tasty local food and drink stalls and much, much more.

Since 2007, a small party for friends and family has been held by Luke Hasell, 2014 BBC Food and Farming Outstanding Farmer of the Year Award finalist, in memory of his parents Martin & Sandra Hasell who once owned the land on which Mini-V takes place. This party grew into Mini-V harvest festival and for 2014 money raised will go toward the work of St Peters Hospice, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, Harvey Hext Appeal and the Good Will Cause. Since 2004 when the Martin Hasell Memorial Fund was set up an excess of £40,000 has been raised for various charities with yearly events.

Local food producers The Story Organic Meat will be feeding festival-goers at their infamous Dirty Burger bar as seen at Arcadia, Glastonbury Festival 2014. Local community supported agriculture project The Community Farm will be running farm-tours near the site of the festival, with a chance for young and old to learn more about organic farming and see the harvest for themselves.

Catering for the younger festival-goer, the Hive and Majical Youth will have something for both the younger and older kids, including a bouncy castle, dj workshops, Busy Bee arts and crafts, dressing up, costume and mask making workshops, facepainting, circus skills, trampolines, breakdance workshops and much more.

Luke Hasell, director of Mini-V festival and nominee for BBC Food and Farming’s 2014 Outstanding Farmer of the Year award,

“We are so excited to be ramping up the scale of Mini-V festival for 2014. Every year we have a great time with friends and family over the weekend and our family are excited to share this good feeling in a beautiful location with the rest of Bristol. The fact that we’re raising money for such important charities in memory of my parents makes me very proud.”
Amy Cason, Events & Corporate Manager at Penny Brohn Cancer Care,

“We are delighted to be involved in the Mini V Festival. Luke has been a fantastic supporter of Penny Brohn Cancer Care and we are really grateful for all of his support. We are really excited about the day. It is going to be great - music, food and raising money in the most beautiful of surroundings."
Mini-V is hosted by Ti-pi events in association with The Story Organic Meat and Eat Drink Bristol Fashion. Tickets can be purchased as day or weekend tickets, with an option of renting a bell-tent sleeping 2-4 for an extra fee. Children under 7 go free.
