Goodbye to our salad days and hello to a winter of much content!
From 21 November we’ll be temporarily waving goodbye to our Salad Box until the spring.
We aim to supply a Salad Box that contains a refreshing range of high quality organic and locally sourced produce. As the winter progresses it becomes increasingly difficult for us to achieve this.
So rather than disappoint, we’d like to invite you explore the seasonal alternatives.
We have organic vegetable boxes to suit a variety of tastes, budgets and households, and a range of individual salad items and winter vegetables that you can add to your order each week.
Eating with the seasons
We grow a variety of delicious salad leaves in our poly tunnels which we sell throughout the winter (in our boxes and as extras). However, many other salad vegetables (like tomatoes and cucumbers) go out of season in the UK winter. The alternatives - for example salad transported long distances, or grown in Britain in heated greenhouses - to us are not the answer. We like to work in harmony with the seasons; growing and selling products that are naturally available at each time of year.
Eating seasonally means that you receive the freshest possible produce packed with the nutrients you need in each season. It also means we can reduce food-miles, cut-down on fossil fuels, and make the most of locally grown produce.
Your Salad Box order
If you have an order in place for a Salad Box to be delivered next week (beginning 16 November) you will receive your order as normal. After that no new Salad Boxes will be delivered until we resume sales in the spring.
If you wish, you can leave your Salad Box order in place and it will resume automatically – we will email you shortly beforehand to let you know when it's back.
