We'd love you to join us...
You may remember that we reported a few months ago that we’d received a grant to increase our volunteering activity. We now have Ian Sumpter in post as our Community Farmer. So we can welcome more volunteers than ever to join us in the fields. Right now, there's more than plenty to do!Volunteering provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about vegetable growing, get some exercise, meet new people or simply to enjoy the beautiful location overlooking Chew Lake.
Community Farmer Days
We have planned a series of Community Farmer Days throughout the spring, summer and autumn (dates below). These are volunteering events where people of all ages and walks of life come along for a fun day out weeding, planting, tending, and harvesting.
We now have two types of Community Farmer Day:
- The bigger Community Farmer Days (max 30 people) are designed to be more sociable events, suitable for old hands and newbies alike.
- The smaller Community Farmer Days (around 10 people) are for those who prefer more involvement, working with with an experienced grower.
Regular volunteering
The Community Farm also has opportunities for volunteering on a regular basis. We can now offer regular volunteering on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Regular volunteers have the opportunity to participate in day-to-day farm work, share knowledge and gain experience of organic growing. All we ask is that you commit to a minimum of half a day a fortnight or more if you can!So, if you have some free time, please do come along
Ian, our Community Farmer, is dedicated full-time to looking after all our field volunteers. Ian will be working to ensure all our field volunteers have a happy and productive time with us.Click here for more information on volunteering.
