- Wildlife Celebration Day
Come and celebrate The Community Farm's wildlife with a fantastic day of celebration, exploration and learning, hosted by naturalist Chris Sperring MBE.
Come and celebrate The Community Farm's wildlife with a fantastic day of exploration and learning, hosted by esteemed naturalist Chris Sperring MBE. Featuring guest speakers and activities run by our Communities and Wildlife teams, all of which bring to life our farming for wild-life approach.
During the afternoon you'll be treated to family-friendly wildlife discovery walks by the wonderfully engaging Chris Sperring, who'll leave you not only with a head full of knowledge but also with a smile on your face! The Somerset Badger Trust and Mendip Hills AONB will be giving interactive talks aiming to get minds thinking about the role that farms like ours play in nurturing and enhancing habitats for wildlife and the impact that this has. Plus calming wildlife wellbeing walks and a gardening for wildlife feature for those of you wanting to create welcoming homes for wildlife in your own gardens.
There'll be plenty of exploratory activities to get stuck into also, you can get hands on with minibeast hunts, pond dipping, natural crafts, discovery trails and sunflower seed planting using seeds saved from our own magnificent flowers last summer. Or feel free to sit back and soak it all up and enjoy the live music around the fire! Download the full schedule here.
Our bar will be selling local ciders, organic apple juice (using apples from our trees!), hot drinks and seasonal sustenance from our field designed by local food wizards Wild Thyme Kitchen, so make sure you come hungry!
*Please note that this is an outdoor event so if the weather is not on our side, and we have to cancel, you will of course receive a full refund (we will notify you of this 2 days before the event date).
